1913 and all that

A quick history lesson if I may.

Several incidents of historical note happened in 1913:

Emily Wilding Davison was trampelled under King George V's horse at the Derby, eventually leading to voting rights for women in the UK, whether this was a good or bad thing will not be discussed here.
Canberra became the official capital of Australia.
The Ford Motor Company started the first assembly line in the world.
The first domestic electric fridge came on the market.
John Logie Baird, inventor of the television died...

and John Watson, my Grandpa, was born!

On Thursday, I gave my Grandpa, his first computer tutorial and first introduction to the Internet. It's a massively confusing experience and if you ever manage to navigate your way to this website Grandpa ( remember Left-Click on Start > Turn Off Computer > Turn Off. ), I'd just like to say Welcome and Sorry for any rude words from my 'friends' in the Comments sections.

Look-a-like Musings

Whilst I was chatting to my sister tonight, I was reminded of the cover of this weeks Guardian guide. On the front was a picture of Anthony Hegarty ( large, whale-sounding, blubbery, mercury prize winning tranny ) who I started looking at with a glimmer of recognition in my mind. Apart from his 'checking a cats prostate' vocals, where did I know him from? And then it came to me in a moment of clarity. He is Sonia from Eastenders! As many of you will know, I have long harbored a deep hatred of Sonia, mainly, I am ashamed to say, because of her torrid looks. I now realize why I disliked Mr. Hegarty from the first moment I saw him. Please enjoy the resemblance....

My psp girlfriend

In our house at the moment, this is the sight that is most likely to greet you as you enter. I've lost my girlfriend to Lumines. Her current high-score is 227,000. This score represents someone who needs treatment for an addiction. If you see us on the road in Japan or Vietnam somewhere, we won't be doing culture, we'll be wrestling over the Psp. I am taking Samantha to the Gp's next week to get her Psp vaccination along with her Rabies jab and to be honest, at the moment, rabies is looking quite attractive as a traveling companion. Hmmmm, mad and frothy or mad, frothy and playing Lumines??

Sam and Andy

We thought we'd better put our real photo's up, so that fellow travellers can spot us on the road.
Sam aka Hanna Hauxwell and Andy aka the chimp.

Getting Ready

In 2 months exactly, we will be in Tokyo!! The ticket is paid for, we've got most of our gear and we can't wait to get out of work and into a year of amazing sights and sounds. I've got all the techno gear for the trip already, would have been cheaper in Japan, but you know when you want something now... This is gonna be the most amazing experience of our lives possibly, there's so much to look forward to. I really want to dive with a whale shark, if that happens the trip will be complete for me! Well, complete ish in an under the sea type way.
Have got a blog already lined up to tell our travel tales from, not sure which one I'm gonna use yet, quite like the way you can add links to this one. I can always do both I suppose, the other one is at Travelblog, which is a good site to. This one feels a bit more personnel.
